Just beyond the type cabinets is an antique cutting machine used by the newspaper to cut paper. This was especially important for commercial printing jobs where paper size varied.

We don’t know the exact age of this cutter. The original nameplate was apparently removed when it was welded, but we believe it dates to 1898-1900. It is a manual cutter with no power used to operate it. The long handle on the front was used to manually bring down the large blade and cut the paper.
